Job Summary:
: The Pharmacy Inventory Specialistis responsible for processing orders, receiving stock, storing, and distributing supplies in a diverse inventory. Responsibilities include the automated inventory control over a supply system and the physical maintenance and up keep of the stock area and all associated equipment. Supervision may be exercised over a small number of employees.
Responsibilities:
Receives, unloads and issues all medication, supplies, material, and equipment, , and prepares them for proper storing and delivery; Checks delivery of ordered items, and inspects them for correct order, quality and quantity; Facilitates the management of medication inventories by; making sure drug product is within date, rotate inventory as necessary, stored within USP guidelines, timely and accurate stocking of daily wholesaler deliveries.Maintains all medication, supplies and equpment shelves and storage areas in a clean, organized, and orderly fashion. Maintains stored items in an organized fashion to ensure rotation of stock, proper storage, classification and safety of stock area; Process all drug returns promptly and appropriately within the necessary management system. Adjust inventory levels as needed when returns are processed. Makes sure packaged returns meet manufactures and wholesaler shipping requirements. Reviews invoices to reconcile credits processed.Ability to make sound decisions and conduct follow up calls for problematic medications deliveries to the facility, from the wholesaler.Responsible for tracking dropship medications within and out of the hospital and maintain supportive documentation; e.g. invoices.Reports to the supervisor immediately any incorrect shipments and other safety issues.Perform cycle counts inventories including counting, investigating, and rectifying discrepancies.Remains informed by reading all department communications.Performs all department required quality assurance responsibilities.Repackages bulk medications and assists in the recall process for department Performs barcode labeling for medications, supplies and equipment Relocates pharmacy inventory as directed Prepares and processes purchase orders for stock items in order to maintain an adequate inventory of supplies, forms, and equipment; Conducts periodical inventories to determine the need for stock replacement and to review the utilization rate and shelf life of stock items; Initiates credit procedures for damages, undelivered or reordered items to ensure non-duplication; Informs supervisor of any inactive, unusual and excessive use of stock items; Maintains automated records and reports of items ordered, received and in stock to track utilization rates and cost of supplies; Operates hand and power driven equipment to move bulk items; Cleans and performs minor maintenance or repair on designated equipment, or arranges for periodic maintenance as provided by service contracts; Ensures that storeroom and warehouse is properly secured, cleaned and maintained; Effectively uses automated systems to perform work assignments;Performs related duties as assigned.Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience:
Three years of clerical experience, one year of which must have involved the purchasing, ordering, receiving, storing and/or issuing of medication, equipment, materials, and supplies. 2 years of Pharmacy Tech Experience preferred
Education:
Required: Possession of a high school or equivalency diploma Preferred: Licenses / Certifications. Preffered: Pharmacy Tech Certification Board (PTCB), Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with New York State
Other:
Good knowledge of modern storekeeping and methods used in inventory control including checking, storing, maintaining, and issuing stock items; ability to maintain automated inventory records and generate routine reports; ability to make simple arithmetical computations; ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; good judgment in stocking and reordering items and in processing orders; ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate sufficiently in English to perform the essential functions of the position; ability to get along well with others; alertness; integrity; physical condition commensurate with the requirements of the position.
