Assume responsibilities for dire ct nursing care of assigned patientsunderthe supervision of a registered nurse or physician in patient carearea.Provides nursing services to pat ients and families in accordancewith the scope of the LPN as defined by the North Carolina Board ofNursing.
Provide and document direct nursing careofassigned patients under thesupervision of a registered nurse or physician. Nursing care is guidedby th e physician orders and the nursing planofcare. Patient responseto care i s reported to a registered nurse for evaluation, interventionand modific ation of the plan of care. Assist otherhealth care personnelin the deliv ery of patient care.Assist physicians and other nursing personnel in the performance ofvarious diagnostic procedures.Evaluate nursing care with emphasis on nursing procedures and patientresponses; assist in the deliv ery of nursing care and selection ofnursing priorities.Assist in the dev elopment and implementation of generalpolicies andprocedures to provide for the emotional and physical comfortand safetyof patients; participate in the formulation of new policies.Participate in maintaining the envir onment of care including equipmentandother material resources.Participat e in the identification of clinicalor operational performanceimprovement opportunities and assists in performance improvementactivities.Assist w ithcontrol of material resources and maintenance; assist inappraisal of effectiveness of material and equipment and report anyequipment malfunct ions to charge nurse.Participate in in-service education programs and ot her conferenceswithin the service.Assist in the training of new employee s.Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.< /p>

Education
Level I -- Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred. High school or GED graduation required. Level II -- Graduationfrom a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred. High school or GED graduation required. Level III -- Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred. High school or GED graduation required. Level IV -- Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred. High school or GED graduation required.
Experience
Level I -- No experience required. Level II -- 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified in a clinical setting. Level III -- 2 years of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified in a clinical setting. Level IV -- 3 years of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified in a clinical setting. Note: 1 year of experience will be provided for an Associate degree in Medical Assisting. General Ladder Statement: In addition to the education and experience noted, applicants must meet all requirements set forth in the Medical Assistant, Certified (CMA/RMA) Ladder Program document for Levels II, III, and IV.
