Position Summary

The Mental Health Specialist Community (MHS) functions as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary treatment team responsible for providing outreach and assistance to persons with serious mental illness who are homeless or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. As a Mental Health Specialist you will assist clients in successfully transitioning from homelessness; secure funding, food, transportation, medical services, and other social services as needed and connect and refer clients to community mental health and substance use treatment centers.

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree required; preferably in human service field such as Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, etc; Certification as a Level 2 Psychiatric Technician through the American Association of Psychiatric Technicians (AAPT) may be accepted in lieu of the degree, at the discretion of the hiring manager and Human Potential
• Must be eligible and apply for a Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor within 30 days and obtain within 90 days of placement in job, unless a higher credential is held
• One (1) year of mental health direct care experience required; experience in inpatient setting preferred
• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider card through American Heart Association

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The starting pay for this position is $21.05 and the pay scale is $21.05 - $30.29 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
