SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the direction of a trainer, responsible to learn the basics of decontamination, instrumentation, identification, sterilization concepts and preparation of Operating Room Case Carts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
High School or equivalent required
Must achieve a 75 or higher on SPD Trainee Examination to participate in Sterile Processing Trainee Program
Must enroll and successfully complete the internal Sterile Processing Technician Certification program, and pass the SPD Technician Certification Exam within six (6) months of being placed in the Trainee position, prior external completion of a sterile processing certificate program will require certification completion in 6 months. Documented work experience in Central Sterile Department can be substituted for trainee program; trainee will be required to pass certification in six (6) months.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
Knowledge of computer systems preferred
