Job Summary:  This position is responsible for working with patients to insure the hospital receives maximum payment for all services rendered, while assisting the patient with any and all avenues of financial assistance available to them.  Assists patients in negotiation of all aspects of financial responsibility for care.  Obtains and monitors patient accounts from a finaincial standpoint.  Assists patients with limited resources to access appropriate sources of funding.

Job Qualifications:  Must have a high school diploma or GED.  Must also have knowledge of medical terminology.  One year or more experience in a medical or hospital office setting performing billing or insurance verification functions preferred.   Experience with insurance and/or patient collections, CPT4 and ICD-9 is encouraged.  Applicant should have a thorough knowledge of third party payer insuance systems and billing requirements, including payer contracts and claim adjudication.  Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must and being bilingual is very helpful.  Must be able to work on multiple tasks with attention to detail, handle urgent tasks and excercise good independent judgement when necessary.  Possess the ability to deal tactfully and harmoniously with guests and respond appropriately to service recovery situations.
