SUBFUNCTION DEFINITION: Protects the organization's employees, properties and all items of value on premises from any preventable harm or danger. Develops security policies and procedures that comply with government guidelines and standards. Conducts investigations to protect organization assets. Responds to contingency events, including bomb threats, sabotage and severe weather conditions through on-site security force or with the assistance of government law enforcement agencies. Recommends hiring of outside security contractors as necessary and may oversee contract guard force.

???Mentor Works as a resource and provides leadership to junior members of the Protective Services division.
???Communication Maintains the Computer Assisted Dispatch (CAD) to maintain contact with Protective Services officers in the field and document the calls/actions. Maintains both the Frontier and C-Cure system to control the physical assess to Cincinnati Children's properties. Maintains the Notifier (Fire System), Code Blue (Medical Emergency) and monitors the UC Irradiators computer.
???Emergency Response Responsible for sending officers to distress calls, panic alarms, emergency calls for disorderly conduct, disruptive person or combative patients. Responsible for sending officers to activities that include but not limited to unlocks, escorts, motorist assists, auto accidents, etc. Direct area emergency services to connect with Protective Services officers when needed.
???Process Improvement Improve organizational performance through recommending areas or approaches for improvement activities, performing new procedures, collecting data and providing input to the division for discussions. Ensure that work areas are organized and present a safe, accessible, effective and efficient environment for employees.
???Communication Provide communication and support to Medical Center visitors, staff, Protective Services officers, area Law Enforcement, Fire and Emergency Services. Obtain sufficient information to determine the appropriate agency and if emergency or administrative actions are needed. Maintains contact with all Protective Services officers and their assignments. Acts as a resource of information for patients, parents, visitors and employees via phone calls that are received in the command center.
