Position Summary:This position is responsible for providing clinical services including assessment, program development and delivery, data keeping, reporting, and communication with patients, families, and other professionals/service providers in the medical community. This is a professional position that applies extensive knowledge and expertise in the area of speech pathology. Work situations are routine and require discretion and good judgment in decision-making, and professional attitudes and behaviors. Internal contacts include inpatient and outpatients, providers, other patient care staff and management; external contacts can include family members, physicians, and community organizations.
Minimum Requirements:- Knowledge of and understanding of age-related care needs for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients and/or families- Knowledge of appropriate referral sources with MHS and the community- Knowledge of the principles of Information Management in order to effectively analyze and make decisions- Skill in age-related patient assessments and creating plans of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of the patients- Skill in interpretation of test results, differential diagnosis, clinical observation- Skill in providing patient/family education- Skill in good interpersonal, oral, and written communication- Ability to work efficiently under pressure- Ability to work independently and take initiative- Ability to set priorities and use good judgment- Ability to meet organization and departmental appearance standards on the job
Education/Licenses/Certifications:- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology (CCC-SP) from the American Speech-Hearing-Language Association OR be in the process of completing a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) with supervision by a CCC-SP in accordance with standards defined by the ASHA- Licensed as a Speech Language Pathologist in the State of Washington or holding an interim permit- Previous Experience as a Speech Language Pathologist preferred but not necessary to meet the requirements of the position- Certification in Basic Life Support
