The Cardiac Recovery Cardiovascular Technician (CVT) independently performs routine and emergency diagnostic cardiology procedures on neonatal through geriatric patients to include 12 lead and 15 lead electrocardiograms, rhythms strips and application of cardiac ambulatory monitors. Under the direction of Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners and/or Physicians, the CVT assists with tilt table studies, stress testing, nuclear stress testing, pharmacological stress testing and the stress portion of stress echocardiogram within their scope of practice. Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the CVT performs tasks as assigned and is instrumental in facilitating unit flow activities that support patient care in a safe, clean environment. The CVT utilizes effective communication and documents data relevant to the care of the patient within their defined scope of practice. The CVT demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development, as well as incorporating cultural differences, psychosocial and or spiritual needs when providing patient care and or transporting patient. The CVT collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.
