Procedural Scheduler is responsible for performing general secretarial and clerical duties in the surgical services core desk and scheduling. Interacts with physicians and the physician offices continually. Procedural Scheduler schedules surgical procedures for all the operating rooms, GI and Special Procedures. Works in collaboration with materials management to order and ensure special instrumentation and supplies are ordered for the scheduled procedures. Procedural Scheduler answers telephones for the surgical services department. Procedural Scheduler may be needed to work beyond the regular tour of duty. Procedural Scheduler calls surgeons office to confirm procedures. Faxes the schedules to the administrative offices.
Position Qualification: (Training, Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities)
Completion of an approved program for unit secretaries, or equivalent experience.
Strong computer and typing skills, working knowledge of medical terminology and legible handwriting
Effective oral and written communication skills in the English language
Visual and hearing senses must be adequate to assess/detect changes in human physiological condition
Ability to perform effectively in fast paced, stressful environment.
