The position is located at the VA Medical Center in Richmond, VA. The position performs patient care service to Veterans, instructs patients/caregivers on the proper use, care and maintenance of orthotic devices, and conducts product and technology research. ***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Some of the duties and responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to): Measures, fits and applies off-the-shelf (OTS) non-custom orthotic devices Ensures orthotic devices fit and function appropriately Makes minor adjustments to orthotic devices (sizing) Records information into patient records Inspects orthotic devices for defects and validates manufacturer safety labeling Examines clinical health records to validate eligibility and entitlement for orthotic devices Uses office equipment such as computers facsimile machines, scanners, printers, copiers, calculators, and telephones Performs other related duties as assigned Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm DESIGNATED DRUG-TESTING POSITION: Applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Applicants will not be appointed to the position if a verified positive drug test result is received.
