The Nurse Manager holds the responsibility for implementation of the Vision, Mission and Values of the Syracuse VAMC within his/her defined areas of responsibility. Home Based Primary Care (HBPC) is health care services provided to Veterans in their home. Locations of HBPC services are in Syracuse Rome, Binghamton, Watertown and Massena. You will be expected to travel between Syracuse, Rome and surrounding areas between 25-50% of the time. He/she provides leadership in day-to-day operations and input into the strategic planning process for the attainment of organizational goals. The Nurse Manager keeps staff informed of the Medical Center Administrative goals through facilitating both vertical and horizontal communication in a timely manner. The incumbent provides timely information regarding emergencies, unusual occurrences or issues that impact on nursing practice or operations to the Nurse Executive/Associate Director Patient Nursing Services (ADPNS). He/she provides direct supervision of nursing personnel in their defined area of responsibility and evaluates their performance and competency. This position will also be expected to extract and analyze data to provide reports and meet the requirements of compliance, and to assist the director and provide backup for the HBPC Program Director. The Nurse manager of HBPC will assume responsibility for planning and scheduling work, assuring production and accuracy requirements are met, and finding ways to improve the quality and/or quantity of work. This position encompasses a leadership role of both the HBPC Program and the Hospital in home/Home telehealth program.
