The Registered Respiratory Therapist will perform clinical duties at the W.G. (Bill) Hefner VAMC located in Salisbury, North Carolina. The incumbent demonstrates the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the following duties within the scope of Respiratory Care. A Registered Respiratory Therapist may perform other duties both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. Essential functions may change from time to time to reflect the current trends within the field of respiratory therapy, ,and to meet the cardio-pulmonary needs of the patients served. Essential functions are required to be performed by the incumbent at least 25% of the time for above full performance ratings. -Perform basic spirometry, including adequate coaching, recognition of improperly performed maneuvers. -Identify and distinguish the indications, contraindications, and general hazards, complications in preparation, performance, and post care of bronchoscopic procedures. -Describe the role of a respiratory therapist in diagnostic bronchoscopy procedures. -Perform arterial and veneous sampling for blood analysis. -Communicate and educate to to empower and engage patients. -Develop, administer, evaluate, and modify respiratory care plans in the acute-care setting, using evidence-based medicine, protocols, and clinical practice guidelines. - Retrieve credible sources of evidence. -Obtain medical, surgical, and family history. -Review and interpret lung volumes and diffusion studies. Work Schedule: Monday- Friday; Midnight shift; 12:00AM- 8:00 AM Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
