RN Salary Range: Candidate's education and length of nursing practice (experience) will be considered by a Nurse Professional Standards Board in determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected. The recommended salary may be at any point in the range listed for this vacancy. This position will serve as a Nurse Manager in all inpatient and outpatient areas of the Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center, at the Emporia VA Clinic in Emporia, VA and the Charlottesville VA Clinic in Charlottesville, VA reporting directly to the chief nurse of their area and is responsible for performing all components of the following: Interpersonal effectiveness such as negotiation skills, dissemination of information, clear communication, and team building; Systems Thinking such as work process, staff collaboration, and new initiative application; Flexibility/Adaptability such as adapting supervisory style to the needs of the unit/employees, handling multiple projects and duties simultaneously, and implementing change effectively; Organizational stewardship such as appropriate use of overtime, encouraging cultural diversity, applying VA goals to unit, grievance resolution, and maintaining Joint Commission and OSHA standards; Customer Service including recognition of employees performance, customer-friendly procedures and processes, establishing mechanisms for on-going customer feedback, and effectively addressing problems with poor customer service; Creative thinking by brainstorming with the team and challenging assumptions; Personal Mastery by seeking supervisory feedback, encouraging development of employees, and providing feedback to employees; Technical skills by seeking best practices and ensuring staff skill set is regularly updated; Management Systems & Processes by clear understanding of roles, understanding of Security systems, enforcing confidentiality, practicing effective delegation skills, and assuring timely completion of paperwork; Performance Development such as effective recruitment, timely performance evaluations, staff mentorship, disciplinary procedures, and competencies; Standards of Care by reviewing staff compliance with policy and procedure, updating policy as needed, coordination with other departments and services, and assuring proper orientation of staff; and Law, Regulation, and Ethics by analyzing and reporting safety issues, by understanding components of root cause analysis, monitoring the work environment, implementing a policy for work schedule changes, ensuring accuracy of VATAS, following union contract regulations, and verbalizing integrated ethics process. Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday through Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm (Management reserves the right to determine and/or change tour of duty) Financial Disclosure Report: Not Required Recruitment/Relocation Incentives: Not Authorized Travel Expenses: Not Authorized
