JOB TITLE: Float Medical Assistant (MA)
LOCATION: Senate House

Provides primary clinical support to the provider, patient and their family to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient's condition.
Performs office procedures/testing and administration of medications as directed by provider and within the scope of practice (i.e. blood draws, injections, specimen preservation, etc.).
Follows up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and filing in EHR to ensure continuity and quality of care.
Promotes a clean environment. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in specific age range on their assigned clinical area.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the System in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.
Willingly works in all System sites as assigned. Works under the general supervision of the site lead for daily operational issues.
Works under the supervision of the provider in providing patient care. Directly reports to float pool leadership.
SPECIFIC POSITION DUTIES:
Float Medical Assistant will support the various practice sites throughout Holy Spirit Medical Group
Primary work location will vary based on open shifts and operational needs within the medical group
Driving may be required between multiple locations within one shift
Weekend rotation required for practice sites open 7 days a week
Varying day and evening hours required based on needs of operations
Float Medical Assistant must to be able to adapt to learning additional MA/PAR duties as they apply differently to each practice site to maintain expected productivity levels of the position.

Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, willingness to accept continuing education to broaden skills, good clinical skills to work effectively with patients' families and providers.
Demonstrates the ability to work under stress, due to consistent high demand for medical resources, and to effectively assess and cope with challenging situations.
Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, versatile, and adaptable in day to day activities conducted in various clinical environments.
Demonstrates the ability to work effectively as a team player as well as an individual contributor with personal accountability.
Demonstrates computer and keyboarding skills and the ability to enter, retrieve and update individual patient records within the patient EHR.
Demonstrates the ability to maintain confidentially and abide by all HIPAA regulations.
Pharmacology knowledge preferred.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Certification of Basic Life Support (CPR) preferred; required within three months of hire.
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistance Program strongly preferred.
Minimum of one year in a provider office setting preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is typically performed in a clinical environment, which includes exposure to communicable disease and blood/body fluids and exposure to negative outbursts from patients and/or families.
