Reviews medical record documentation to select and sequence the appropriate ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and CPT/HCPCS codes. Applies all appropriate coding guidelines and criteria for code selection. Complies with RRH-UMMC Coding Compliance Policies and Procedures.
Codes inpatient, special procedures, observation, and/or same day surgery records within established productivity guidelines with at least 95% accuracy. May assist with other types of coding, as needed.
May be on-site or remote depending on candidate’s experience and preferences.
Strong analytical, computer and communication skills
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
At least one year of coding experience, including complex cases and inpatient hospital stays. Three years of experience preferred.
CCS, CIC, CPC, or RHIT preferred along with requisite coding experience. May complete certification or testing in the first two years of employment.
