The Director of Internal Communications is accountable for the development and implementation of an enterprise-wide communication strategy that informs, educates, aligns and enables employees to achieve Conifer Healthï¿½s business goals in a manner consistent with our purpose, values, and guiding behaviors.
The communication team partners with company leaders and staff to assess opportunities and challenges, and deliver consistent communications to current, newly hired, transitioning and prospective employees; and ensuring leaders are equipped to effectively communicate what is relevant to their teams.
The director leads a team of professional communicators who maintain compelling, timely, relevant and accurate information using the companyï¿½s primary communication channels, including executive briefings, online news, flat screens, e-newsletters, leadership townhalls and emails.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(Plan) Set the overarching employee and executive communication strategy.
Create strategic employee communication campaigns/initiatives.
Develop communication policies, processes and tools.
Provide communication advice and counsel to company executives to develop enterprise and business-unit communications and increase leader visibility.
Partner with company leaders and intiative project team leads to plan communication approaches to promote company programs.
(Write/Edit) Write executive and employee communications, including speeches, email memos, enewsletters, online news articles, FAQs, video scripts, talking points and presentations.
Ensure high-quality content by providing counsel on how to deliver challenging messages when needed, and reviewing, editing, and proofreading employee communication items.
(Manage) Lead and manage the internal communication function and staff.
Recruit and manage a communications team to support the development and execution of the communications strategy.
Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals, and administer salary adjustments.
(Evaluate/Continuously Improve) Design and implement communication measurement tools and processes, gather and analyze feedback, and adjust strategies as needed to achieve goals.

Comprehensive knowledge of electronic and print communication, change management, organizational effectiveness, branding/design theories, practices and policies.
Working knowledge of related disciplines, such as community and media relations, crisis management, marketing communications, and industry and government relations.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Include minimum education, technical training, and/or experience required to perform the job.
10+ years of corporate communications experience, with 4-7+ years in leadership positions.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in journalism, mass communications, public relations or related discipline required. Master's degree or equivalent in a related discipline preferred.
Accreditation and/or award recognition by a recognized communications industry association preferred (IABC or PRSA).
